Welcome to An Acail. We hope you enjoy your visit. My name is Jeanne and my husband is Iain. Together we own and run An Acail which is the Gaelic for tranquillity. Acail, originally an agricultural barn, is now a newly converted self catering cottage.
The cottage is just a short drive from Stornoway town centre and is perfectly located for exploring the Islands of Lewis and Harris. The Islands boast beautiful beaches, many historical sites, and there are numerous walks. Ranging from simple strolls to more adventurous rambles.
The accommodation is on two levels. As you enter the house there is space to hang your coat and stow your outdoor foot wear. To the left is the open plan kitchen/dining and living room. To the right is the master bedroom and straight ahead the luxury bathroom (which also adjoins the bedroom).
The kitchen area has all you need to make your own meals and there is a dining nestled in a large bay window. The dining table seats 4 comfortably and can easily be extended to seat 6. The living area has seating for 6 and looks out through French doors onto a patio area with picnic table.
The master bedroom has ample storage space for all your holiday gear and boasts a luxurious super king size bed and flat screen television. Adjoining the bedroom is the bathroom (also accessible through the hall). bathroom has a luxury power shower with option of waterfall and jets. It also has a spa bath with waterfall taps. The bathroom also has a built in radio and speakers with the option to connect mp3 player.
The upstairs is accessed through the living area and stairs which can be lit at floor level. At the top of the stairs to your left is a twin bedded room and to your right there is also a twin which can be made up to a double room. The beds in this room zip together making a super king size bed. Both these rooms have en suite shower rooms. One with power shower and one with electric shower.
If we go back down the stairs now we can exit the house through the French doors, down two steps onto the patio area. On the patio area there is a large picnic table and if you look to your right there is an outbuilding. This outbuilding houses the boiler for the central heating and the laundry facilities - washing machine, ironing area, and clothes pulley. These facilities are for your sole use. There is also an outdoor drying area. An Acail is a warm cosy house with oil central heating which can be fully controlled by you.
We want your stay to be as comfortable as possible and provide all bed linen, towels and a small welcome pack to help you settle in on your first night.
